October 4, 2010No one likes to see a family pulled apart, but in this case the result is two new species: Scientists studying the genome of Paradoxurus hermaphroditus have decided that, in fact, the Asian palm civet is three distinct species.
This may explain the subtle taste differences found when comparing KapePür and other Filipino civet coffee to Indonesian Kopi Luwak.
The civet, which is famous for its coffee processing abilities, is believed to have evolved differently in northeastern India; Southeast Asia, including Indonesia; and parts of Borneo and the Philippines. Though civets in these three areas were once thought to be the same, they are in fact different—a finding that will help conservationists and wildlife managers in the future.

May 10, 2010But don’t take our word for it…
Last week, a group of professional coffee cuppers from Westfeldt Brothers tried KapePur Civet Coffee for the first time. Here are the highnotes:
“We found it to be very smooth, chocolaty with a distinctively exotic
finish. It certainly should appeal to anyone seeking a unique coffee
experience.”
This is high praise coming from a group of seasoned coffee veterans. Thanks to the team at Westfeldt.
