PRESS RELEASE: THE WORLD’S MOST EXPENSIVE COFFEE IS “POOP-TASTIC”!

“A unique coffee gift that boasts world class flavor and a heck of a feel-good story”, says the Asian Palm Civet

JACKSONVILLE, FL – Foodies, thrill-seekers and anyone who loves great coffee will enjoy the taste of KapePur.  It’s easy to appreciate the unique flavor and harvesting process, as well the benefit to the Filipino people.

KapePur is 100% authentic, wild, and naturally processed in Mindanao, Philippines.  The beans are ingested by a cat-like animal called the Asian Palm Civet, then “deposited” on the jungle floor. Sounds strange, right?  Here’s how it works.

It all starts with the Asian Palm Civet.  It eats only the ripest, sweetest coffee berries during the three-month Filipino growing season.  While inside the civet ,the berry’s skin is digested leaving only the coffee bean.  The bean then undergoes physical and chemical changes, similar to a form of fermentation. The result is a bitterless, smooth-tasting coffee with chocolately notes that only this special process can provide. As coffee afficianados know, civet coffee is similar to the Indonesian Kopi Luwak. However, wild Filipino civets, high-quality coffee and small-batch roasting give KapePur its superior taste.

These unique beans are not only made and harvested in a strange way; they also serve a purpose.  KapePur has been a beacon of hope for the farmers and residents of the Cotabato Province of Mindanao. Many in this region of the Philippines suffer from extreme poverty and lack of resources due to years of war. Through a partnership with the Mindanao Land Foundation, civet coffee sales provide local farmers with much needed revenue.  Ultimately, the sale of KapePur will help them break-out of their cycle of poverty and restore their livelihood.

KapePur is currently available in 2 oz. and 4 oz. gift boxes, as well as 4 oz., 8 oz. and 12 oz. bags. Custom-designed gift boxes come with a 12oz. French Press, color story book and a Certificate of Authenticity. KapePur bags come with a color story book and a Certificate of Authenticity.

Pricing is as follows: 2 oz. Gift Box, $85 4 oz. Bag, $109 12 oz. Bag, $289 4 oz. Gift Box, $130 8 oz. Bag, $199

Wild Civets = Great Coffee

Say no to coffee from captive civets

We strongly advocate against buying civet coffee from farming operations. Wild civets choose only the best, ripest coffee beans to eat. If you had to guess, what quality of coffee bean do you think these farmers are feeding their captive civets? Bad beans = bad civet coffee, period.

Meet Dodo: Civet Coffee Farmer and Hero Dad
May
30
by Kapepur Admin May 30, 2011

Dodo is a proud father and one of our civet coffee farmer-partners in Cabilao, Philippines.
Happy Father’s Day to Dodo and all hard-working Dads around the world.

Every morning Dodo Purisima walks for an hour over hilly terrain to his farm in Cabilao, Philippines. Once there, he promptly tends to his various crops, which include coffee plants and rubber trees. Sometimes in addition to his regular farm duties, Dodo goes deep into the forest to look for precious coffee beans which “deposited” by the Asian Palm Civet. When coffee is at its ripest, wild civets make the sweet berries a mainstay of their diet.

Civets have become an unlikely bringer of hope to the Purisima’s and the impoverished families of Cabilao. The coffee is stored and sold collectively with other farmers in the village and proceeds are divided equally amongst the group. Civet coffee production in the area has provided an honest source of additional income for all the farmers in the village.

According to Dodo, “the cycle of poverty that has engulfed the likes of myself and my generation must come to an end.” Despite toiling hard, Dodo barely brings home $60 (USD) per month, which makes it difficult to support his children’s education. Dodo’s wife Rosalie shares that their son, Jhosua, is blessed with a bright mind and is determined to be the first in the family to attend university.

Happy Father’s Day to Dodo and all hard-working Dads around the world. We salute you.

PRESS RELEASE - Coffee Lovers Rejoice!
Nov
25
by Kapepur Admin November 25, 2010

As seen in the Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman movie, The Bucket List, EarthBee Foods is proud to announce its launch of 100 percent Civet Coffee - KapePür - undeniably the world’s finest coffee.

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/coffee-lovers-rejoice-the-worlds-finest-coffee-is-available-just-in-time-for-the-holidays-2010-11-23

So, what makes this the world’s finest coffee? First, these Filipino coffee beans are ingested by a cat-like animal - the Asian Palm Civet. While inside the civet’s body, the beans undergo physical and chemical changes similar to a form of fermentation. Once they’ve been “deposited” on the jungle floor, the beans are collected by EarthBee’s Filipino-farmer partners and prepped for shipment.

According to expert coffee tasters in New Orleans, this 100 percent Civet coffee delivers a rich and smooth flavor, unlike any other on the market today. It has chocolaty, nutty undertones and no bitterness due to reduced protein content.

“And, we would not be able to deliver such an amazing product to our customers without the partnerships that we’ve developed with regional farmers in Mindanao - the second largest and southernmost island in the Philippines and home to our Civet coffee beans,” says Ben Johnson, Director of Partnership Cultivation for EarthBee Foods.

In the spirit of the holidays, sales of this unique coffee directly benefit the impoverished people of Mindanao.

“We have already made several corporate sales to banks and large law firms,” adds Johnson. “These are companies that want to provide that ‘wow’ factor to its clients, and at the same time benefit the greater good.”

Since only 300 to 500 pounds of this coffee are produced each year, KapePur would be a rare and unique experience for any coffee lover. EarthBee Foods has designed two premium packages. The first retails for $92 and includes a beautiful collectible gift box; full-color storybook; a two-ounce bag of KapePur coffee; and a Bodum, three-cup French press. The second gift packet has the same items, but includes four ounces of coffee and retails for $137. Prices include domestic shipping and a certificate of authenticity.
